A Brand New World
Mrs. Noah finished the lunch dishes and dried her hands. Her boys were tired all the time now, what with building the ark or preparing homes and food for all the animals inside the ark. Her daughter-in-laws were helping, too.
She decided to go check on Noah. He was getting enough rest between finishing God’s project and preaching. She shuddered, thinking of how they made fun of her kind husband. He truly cared for them, wanting them to turn away from their wickedness.
She locked the door, putting the key in her pocket next to her weapon. Thieves were everywhere. You had to be careful.
Destruction of the Old World
When Mrs. Noah joined her husband on the ark as the world was a wicked place. The Bible says that every inclination of their hearts was evil. (Genesis 6:5) That is so hard for us to imagine because we meet unbelievers all the time who are kind. The world Mrs. Noah left behind was cruel and scary for a woman raising sons.
Living in the New World
Though Mrs. Noah longed for the new world where there would be no more murder, rape, stealing, spying, lying, swearing, or manipulating, she was not prepared for the world she walked out of the ark into.
The world had changed. The crushing waters springing up from the deep and the heavy rains had altered the world she knew. Mountains were taller. The climate was different. Now, there would be rain, not just endless days of mild sunshine. She walked out of the ark and did not recognize earth. It was not the world she left behind.
II Corinthians 5:17 ~~ Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here. #BiblicalBeauty #BiblicalWomenofInfluence Share on XBeautiful buildings lay in ruins. Most lay underneath layers of mud along with people, animals, and plants. Where was the familiar? The normalcy?
She had wanted change, but was this the change? Now she was all alone with her husband, sons, and daughter-in-laws. The world seemed so big. She seemed so small.
We don’t know because the Bible doesn’t have much to say about Mrs. Noah, but we know that she was loyal and faithful because she stayed at Noah’s side as he preached righteousness and built an ark. She stayed at his side in the brand new world, probably helping her daughters-in-law give birth, telling stories to her grandchildren.
Our Brand New World
When we gave our hearts to Christ, we entered a brand new world, the Kingdom of God.
We also become brand new.
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me, and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20 NASB).
I have been crucified with Christ. Like Mrs. Noah’s old world was gone, my old nature is gone.
Like Mrs. Noah entered a new world, we are brand new from the inside out. We have a new nature. Christ has made us alive. Now, if I sin, I feel dirty and it seems so wrong because my new nature is to serve Jesus.
When the Devil Lies
We have an enemy who prowls around looking for someone to devour.
He accuses us: “You are still that old person!”
Then he slanders God: “The Lord doesn’t really love you.”
He also tries to entice us: “This will be so fun. Don’t worry about the consequences.”
We must remember the story of Mrs. Noah. The old world was under water. You old nature is dead. Your sins are under the blood of Jesus.
Stand Firm
Stand firm in Christ. He lives in you now. Mrs. Noah entered a new world, but Jesus entered you and made you brand new inside.
He will help you, teach you, guide you, love you, lead you, counsel you, watch over you, remind you who you are in Him.
Don’t believe the devil’s lies. Reject him, but run to Jesus. Keep your eyes on Christ, the Author and Perfecter of your soul.
“It was for freedom Christ set us free, therefore, keep standing firm and don’t be subject again to a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1)
“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1-3 NASB).
We are loved indescribably and the One who loves us is with us. He will help us stand firm and live in the brand new world, the Kingdom of God.

And behind every great woman is a GREAT God, powerful, loving, faithful, amazing LORD! Let’s never forget what (who) makes her great!
This was a ‘great’ post …. convicting as I think what it must have been like for a woman to put her faith in a man who was building this great big boat when most scholars believe it likely had never actually rained before. All the snears and laughs from evil onlookers … I can hardly imagine. I faint at even the least little oppression, but can you imagine what it must have been like in the face of that corruption? This had given me great food for thought … how would I respond in a situation like that?
Thanks for sharing!

I love the way you transport us into the life of Mrs. Noah, Meredith. So much truth and inspiration, my friend! I’m grateful Angel asked you to share in this series. I’m pinning and tweeting!
I absolutely love this post! I never thought of Mrs. Noah before!! But behind every great man is an even greater woman!! You did such a good job of writing this! ❤
Thank you so much 🙂 🙂 I am so blessed by your encouragement.
Thanks for the encouraging post. 1 Peter 3:20-21 also mentions Noah and how the water is a symbol pointing to baptism. The ark itself was a symbol foreshadowing Christ. Noah and his family were safe in the ark with the waters and flood all around them while everyone else was perishing. In Christ we are also safe and saved from the flood.
